A Chinese individual, Hu Lezhi, has made waves in the cryptocurrency space by burning over $1.3 million worth of Ethereum (ETH). The move was not just a simple transaction but part of a larger, highly unusual series of transfers that have raised eyebrows in the crypto community. Lezhi claims that a group of Chinese investors and companies have been using “brain-computer weapons” to control and manipulate their employees, turning them into what he describes as “puppets” or “slaves” of technology.
Lezhi, a self-identified programmer and entrepreneur, states that he has been monitored and controlled by a secret group since birth. He says he became aware of this in October 2022, after which the situation worsened. In on-chain messages attached to the transactions, he accused prominent Chinese business leaders Feng Xin and Xu Yuzhi of Kuande Investment of using these alleged “brain-computer weapons” to persecute individuals within their company. Lezhi even suggested that the CEOs themselves were under the control of these devices, stating:
“The CEOs of Kuande Investment: Feng Xin and Xu Yuzhi used brain-computer weapons to persecute all company employees and former employees, and even they themselves were controlled.”
The Ethereum tokens were transferred to a burn address — an irreversible destination where funds are permanently destroyed and can never be recovered. Lezhi’s actions have been tracked by crypto intelligence platform Arkham, which revealed that the total amount of ETH transferred to various addresses in recent days adds up to nearly $5 million. In addition to the funds burned, significant portions were also sent to the Ethereum Foundation and WikiLeaks, along with transfers to a new address and a Coinbase account. Arkham reported:
“In total the address has sent $4.95M to the burn address, Wikileaks, and the Ethereum Foundation this week. It has also transferred $825K ETH to a Coinbase Deposit and $273K ETH to a fresh address 0x2a6.”
It was revealed that the transfer process started on February 10 and continued until February 17, with many transactions carrying a similar warning:
“There is a new mode of crime in which the victim is gradually deprived of his senses of desire until he becomes a complete slave to the digital machine, and if one day I become a victim of the final stage, I will leave the world.”
This unusual and alarming act has gained attention for its scale and bizarre claims. Lezhi’s explanation of “brain-computer weapons” controlling individuals is hard to believe, deepening the mystery. The key question is whether this alleged mind-control tool influenced him to transfer such a large amount of Ethereum.
Regardless, sending the tokens to a burn address has reduced ETH’s supply, which could potentially boost its value.
